Robert James Black Managing Director of National Industries Pty. Ltd. was born into the family General Cartage Contracting business of James Black and Sons which was established in 1900.

As Apex Springs developed, it acquired Industrial Springs in 1984, Specialised Springs in 1986 and a substantial shareholding of Lloyd B Moss Springs in 1986.

2012

National Springs & Wire Products Pty Ltd was undergoing lateral diversification of its core business to include not only spring and wire products but also laser cut products, raw material sales including wire and strip, metal pressings, assembly, mesh and filtration products. To reflect this lateral diversification within the company it was decided that the name National Industries Pty Ltd would reflect the broader range of products and services offered by the company currently and into the future.

1998

It was decided with divisions and affiliates now operating across Australia it would be fortuitous to change the name to truly reflect the present and future direction of this 100% Australian owned manufacturing group of companies and hence National Springs & Wire Products Pty Ltd was born.

1995

National Springs & Wire Products Pty Ltd acquired a Brisbane Spring Company Chessell Springs Pty Ltd.

1991

Aust-Group Springs acquired the Salter Spring Division.

1989

Businesses were re-located under one roof and under one name Aust-Group Springs Pty Ltd. The new manufacturing complex was constructed on a 5 acre site in Campbellfield where National Industries is still located today.

1988

Complete acquisition of Lloyd B Moss Springs.

1986

Acquisition of Specialised Springs and a substantial shareholding of Lloyd B Moss Springs.

1984

Acquisition of Industrial Springs.

1976

Robert left Industrial Springs and purchased his own business namely Apex Springs.

1964

Robert James Black the owner and Managing Director of National Industries Pty Ltd broke with family tradition and joined Industrial Springs in Kensington Victoria who were manufacturers of springs and wire products.
